Why Perso-Arabic needs its own address
Urdu is written right-to-left in the Perso-Arabic script, usually in the flowing Nastaliq style, and its letters change shape depending on whether they sit at the start, middle or end of a word. An Urdu email address is therefore a bidirectional text problem: the name and the domain run right-to-left while the @ sign and the dot are neutral characters that have to sit between them. Unicode's bidirectional algorithm resolves that, and DataMail relies on it rather than on any transliteration. Urdu is an official language in several Indian states, including Jammu and Kashmir, Telangana, Bihar and Delhi, and the national language of Pakistan.
Who uses it: Urdu-medium schools, publishers and community organisations in India, and correspondents in Pakistan and the Gulf who read Urdu daily.
A real address, not a translated app
Most email apps just translate their own menus and buttons. DataMail goes further: the address itself, the part before and after the @, can be written in Perso-Arabic. That's possible because of Email Address Internationalization (EAI), a technical standard that lets an email address use scripts beyond plain ASCII. An address like سمپرک@ڈاٹامیل.بھارت isn't a display trick over a hidden Latin-script address; it's the real, deliverable address, the same way name@example.com is.

How to create a free Urdu email address.
- Install the DataMail app. App Store or Google Play. IDs are created in the app, not on this website. About a minute.

- Verify your mobile number. A one-time code by SMS confirms the account.

Gmail and Outlook.com deliver to Perso-Arabic addresses, but fewer than 10% of mail servers worldwide accept non-Latin addresses yet, so mail to some older corporate systems can bounce.
