How to create a free email ID in India, in about a minute.
- Install DataMail. Google Play or the App Store. There is no signup on the website or on webmail; the ID is created in the app.
- Pick your language. English, or any of the 16. If you choose Hindi, your address is written in Devanagari; Tamil, in Tamil script; and so on.
- Type your name and verify your number. A one-time SMS code confirms the account.
- Use it anywhere. The app, or any browser at mail.datamail.in. On a computer you can sign in without a password using a code from the app.

Is there a free Indian email service?
Yes. DataMail is free, made in Jaipur, and has run since 2016. It was the first free service to let the address itself be written in an Indian script, and is still one of very few. It also works with plain English addresses, so nothing forces you into a script you do not want.
Does the free account have a storage limit?
No fixed limit. Storage is ad-supported: watch a short ad in the app and the mailbox grows. The trade is stated plainly on the Why DataMail page.
Can I use it for government forms, banks and job applications?
A DataMail address is a standard, deliverable email address and most systems accept it. Fewer than 10% of mail servers worldwide still reject non-Latin addresses, so for a form that only accepts English letters, use an English-script DataMail address or keep a second one.
